Joycelyn Claudette Herbert

Joycelyn Herbert passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024, after a life journey that took her through South America, Canada, and the United States. She and her twin brother were born in Guyana, South America on September 2, 1944, to Samuel and Pearl Nurse.  After 33 years in Engineering, Joycelyn retired to Houston with her daughter. Joycelyn always enjoyed a good laugh, created great food, and loved a good book.

Joycelyn is preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Pearl Nurse, another twin, her dear auntie Ivy Belgrave, and her first-born child, Antoinette Marie. She is survived by her first life partner, twin brother Lennox Nurse, her sisters, Lorraine Chance and Marcel Butts, her daughter Nicole Herbert, and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends who love her; she will be truly missed but never forgotten.

Ms. Joycelyn's visitation will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Vazquez Funeral Home located at 1805 Huge Oaks St. Houston, Texas 77055.

In lieu of flowers, the Herbert family has requested that any memorial tributes be made in the form of charitable donations to the American Diabetes Association, the American Kidney Fund, or the American Cancer Society.
